About
I earned my Ph.D. in Modern British History and the History of the British Empire (2010) from the University of Maryland, College Park.
I am employed as an Assistant Professor at Elizabeth City State University, an HBCU in the University of North Carolina system. At ECSU, I teach intro-level World Civilization courses and upper-division courses in European and World History.
I am working on a book-length project based on my dissertation. _Royal Subjects, Imperial Citizens: The Royal Tour and the Making of British Imperial Culture, 1860-1911_ examines how nineteenth-century royal tours to the British Empire were imagined and used by different historical actors in Britain, the Cape Colony, New Zealand, and South Asia. The work builds on a growing historical literature about imperial networks, citizenship, and the cultures of empire.
